My Son is Naughty
Untitled from Team 5 PES on Vimeo
Jack and Ray were at the rugby. Ray’s team was winning
so Jack decided to give Ray a problem to deflate his ego a
bit. So Jack said “Did you know that today is my three
sons’ birthday?” “How old are they?” Ray asked taking
the bite. “I’ll give you a hint. The product of their ages is
36 and the sum of their ages is 13,” Jack replied. “That’s
no help,” said Ray. So Jack weakened and gave him
another clue. “O.K. My youngest son is very naughty.”
“Nothing to it,” exclaimed Ray and he told Jack the
correct ages of his sons.
How did Ray figure out the correct answer and what are
Jack’s sons’ ages?
I hope you like it.

Hey Efilona! My name is Kaley McDonald. I'm a student at the University of South Alabama in the United States taking a class titled EDM 310. Your math word problem is very fun, creative, and challenging! I like the way you used your imagination and created a very interesting word problem that resembles a riddle! I also like that you added a video of yourself and a partner explaining how you calculated the answer to your problem! It is great to present projects through video or class presentations, especially at your young age so that you will have no problem getting up in front of your classmates to present in the future! It seems as though you like math and and are performing especially well in the subject! Keep up the good work using your math skills in everyday life and continue to expand your imagination!

Hi Efilona,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Shanda Thornton and I am a junior at the University of South Alabama. My school is located in Mobile, Alabama, USA. I am enrolled in a class called EDM310, which is how I found your blog post! You did a great job creating this math problem. The background story to your problem was very interesting! Do you know any naughty one year olds?:-) ! It was a very good idea to add your video with you and your friend explaining how you came up with the correct answer to your problem! Very creative! Did your other classmates come up with the correct answer to your problem? Math is challenging to many people and you seem to be good at it. You also looked like you were enjoying yourself in your video! Good luck in the remaining months of school! Keep your grades up and stay creative!!
I also read your "about me" section of your blog, and I noticed that we were born in the same month!
I am adding a link to my blog, just in case you would like to check it out!
